A man of 50 walking along the road was killed instantly when he stumbled directly in front of a car.

The man, whose name has not yet been released had been drinking. He was wearing dark clothing, the road was poorly lighted and rain was falling heavily.

Witnesses state that the driver had no chance of avoiding the man.^*.
