2. TRAINING IN FORESTRY
Forestry in New Zealand requires a high standard of service from individuals, and offers high rewards to those making it a lifetime career. Many opportunities exist for young men in field work, operations, technical and professional divisions. Forest Ranger training includes a study of soils, tree culture, the properties and uses of timber, roading, survey work and management. Graduates may be sent overseas to gain Forestry Degree qualifications at such Commonwealth schools as Canberra, Oxford and Edinburgh, or foreign centres of Forestry Education in America, Sweden, Switzerland and France.
