Can you read this?
The dark nights and wet roads of autumn cut your vision of the road right down. Slippery surfaces halve your margin of safety. So sensible drivers always drive more slowly at this time of year.
The above sentence gives you some idea of how your vision of the road is blurred on a wet night in autumn. Remember always that
* Oil from exhausts, etc., settles on the road in summer Whilst the roads are dry it creates no hazard. But when combined with rain and wet leaves, it can make some road surfaces as dangerous as ice.
Cut your speed by 10 m.p.h.
